Five R&D Platforms

Innovative R&D is the cornerstone of Sihuan Pharmaceutical’s core competitiveness. Six pharmaceutical and medical-aesthetics research institutions in China and overseas, staffed by more than 600 elite R&D professionals and led by senior scientists, are dedicated to innovative patented drugs and medical-aesthetics products, with more than 120 new-drug programs under development and more than 300 innovative-drug patents.

Innovative Drug R&D Center - Xuanzhu Biopharma

Xuanzhu Biopharma is Sihuan Pharmaceutical’s innovative-drug subsidiary — a China-rooted, globally minded innovative pharmaceutical company focused on major diseases including gastrointestinal disorders, oncology, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. It is dedicated to the R&D, manufacturing, and commercialization of Class 1 new drugs with proprietary intellectual property to address unmet clinical needs. The company operates twin R&D engines in small-molecule chemical drugs and large-molecule biologics, with a rare domestic pipeline spanning small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, bispecific antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates. Drawing on its R&D strength and innovation capability, Xuanzhu has received numerous honors, including Forbes’ 2022 New Unicorns list, the 2023 China Biomedicine Sci-Tech Innovation Value List (Top 10 most promising small-molecule innovators), 2023 China Drug R&D Comprehensive Strength Top 100, China Unicorn, the 2023 China Biomedicine Frontrunners 100, and the 2023 Top 50 Sci-Tech Leaders in China’s pharmaceutical industry.

Innovative Biologics R&D Center - Huisheng Biopharma

Huisheng Biopharma is Sihuan Pharmaceutical’s biopharmaceutical company focused on diabetes and its complications. After nine years of development, it is among the few domestic companies covering the full diabetes and complications product range, integrating R&D, manufacturing, and sales. Its internationally experienced diabetes R&D team is advancing a pipeline of more than 40 products spanning second-generation, third-generation, and novel insulins (basal, premixed, and rapid-acting), SGLT-2i and GLP-1a therapies, and other commonly used glucose-lowering and complication treatments. Huisheng is committed to providing patients with end-to-end, integrated treatment solutions — making health simpler.

Beijing Aohe Institute of Pharmaceutical Research

Beijing Aohe Institute of Pharmaceutical Research Co., Ltd. was founded in 2010 as a high-tech company dedicated to drug development. It has been recognized as a Beijing municipal high-tech enterprise, a Beijing municipal enterprise science and technology R&D institution, a Beijing innovative SME, a Beijing science and technology SME, and a Beijing IP pilot unit. The institute occupies 11,750.68 square meters, including more than 9,000 square meters of laboratory space, with leading synthesis, formulation, and analytical labs equipped with HPLC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, Pre-HPLC, SEM, IC, NMR, XRPD, and DSC/TGA for full-spectrum quality studies required for drug registration. Guided by “people first, science foremost,” Aohe focuses on first generics, fast-follow generics, and clinically urgent products in cardiovascular, oncology, gastrointestinal, and neuropsychiatric disease. With more than a decade of experience, it offers complete API and formulation R&D as well as modular services such as elemental impurity studies, genotoxic impurity studies, reverse engineering, and impurity isolation and purification.

Clinical Development Center

Established in 2013, the center has built an end-to-end clinical research and trial platform covering strategy and path setting, protocol design, trial monitoring, biostatistics, data management, clinical study reports, and clinical evaluation reports. With more than 100 senior clinical researchers from the global pharmaceutical industry, it drives clinical studies for all of the Group’s internally developed and in-licensed Class 1.1 innovative drugs, generics, and marketed products, with more than 50 clinical programs currently underway.

Medical Aesthetics R&D Platform

Meiyen Laboratory (United States): In 2021, Sihuan Pharmaceutical established Meiyen Laboratory in Southern California to bring innovative technologies to its medical-aesthetics platform Meiyan Space and to develop next-generation biomaterials and related products, including recombinant human type III collagen. Beijing Medical Aesthetics R&D Center: Meiyan Space, Sihuan’s medical-aesthetics company, also operates an R&D center in Beijing to improve existing products and explore new applications, in deep collaboration with leading research institutes and universities in China.
